Dawson Atkin first attended MassSTAR in 2016 as a sophomore delegate from Gateway Regional High School. They are proud to this year play a part in planning the contest with their first foray into conference planning! They are enthusiastic to be returning to the MYL Foundation and the MassSTAR conference.
Since then, Dawson has become president both of their chapter of the National Honor Society and of their school's band. An accomplished musician on both piano and saxophone, they plan to study music composition next year to prepare for a career in the field. They have written a variety of music ranging from classical suites to modern experimental. Dawson is also heavily involved in both school and community theatre. Dedicated to social justice, Dawson serves as president of their school's Gender & Sexuality Alliance as well as being a part of Feminists United, where they help bring change to school policies.
Dawson is beyond excited to help bring the joy and lessons of MassSTAR to even more students around the state by working as a Programming Director!
